KATHY'S BIRTHDAY

KATHY'S BIRTHDAY
About the beginning of this past week we both came down with the flue.  Kathy got it worse than Gary.   However besides this, Kathy became really grouchy and everything was Gary's fault.  Any suggestion or decision Gary made was not only wrong but terribly wrong.   It was a very miserably few days. Saturday came and it all became clear.  Kathy was turning a certain age on Sunday, and, she was not at all happy about being this age.  So Gary understood and thought to himself, what is a husband good for if he can't absorb his wife's frustration.  Well, Sunday came and Kathy dressed up for church, and, she looked beautiful.   At least 20 years younger than she is.  We visited a tiny branch further in the mountains, and here is a shot of her and some of the ladies. The little lady in the middle probably knew Columbus personally.

DISOBIEDIENCE
About a year ago, a missionary here in our area did some very bad things.  The church members here were and still are furious.  This missionaries disobedience has made it really hard for the current missionaries. The missionaries are constantly scrutinized, .  Our missionaries have worked hard to prove themselves and have made progress.   However, the disobedient missionary after his mission returned here and His presence is obviously disturbing.
Well, this situation is somewhat of a set back.   We were reflecting on how we handle bad turns of events or bad things that happen that are not our fault.  We feel that these situations bring up the very core of our beliefs: a sure hope that things will get better.  Joseph smith suffered a tremendous set back when he was put in the Liberty jail.  But, this situation resulted in one of the most important scriptures of all,  D & C 121.    From this scripture we are assured that The Lord knows of our situations and cares for us deaply.  With that knowledge, we can move forward with assurity that, if we do our part, The Lord will pull us through.
